As always, the Rally started on Friday night. There were amusement park rides and games to while away the time waiting for the right conditions for the balloons to go up.

There were also helicopter rides, which are very popular.
The most unusual balloon was "The Cake" which weighs in at 807 pounds and requires a larger crew than most.
"The Cake" has a diameter of 71 feet and it is a stunning 80 feet high with a volume of 160,000 cubic feet! It sure is an eye catcher!!!
On Saturday there was a Dawn Mass Ascension, the weather failed us for a liftoff on Saturday afternoon, but was fine for the Night Glow and a fantastic (words cannot describe), humongous, awesome Fireworks Extravaganza by Telstar Display Fireworks Inc.
The final flight for the event was on Sunday morning.

**Notes on Set-up for the fireworks, submitted by Louie Houle: "It took 8 to 12 men 3 days to put the show together. There were 3 miles of wire connecting the shells. There were over 9,000 shells shot at the show, each has to be hand wired. The show is shot entirely by computer so once all the wiring is connected, all it takes is one push of the enter key and that is it. Lastly the man behind the show is my friend Robert Depoutot (of TELSTAR). He starts planning, organizing and promoting the show the next day for next years show. Laying out the show takes many hours to do and Bob puts a whole year of his spare time into it. He does a lot of unselfish work for Rotary and Pittsfield."
